Why is government necessary?

We need a governing body, but on a limited level, not what we are under now! The Government should be protecting the Country, not telling us what kind of light bulb to use, what kind of car we should be driving, what we should be eating or drinking, or whether we smoke or not! It also should not be in control of the car companies, the drug companies, and definitely not in charge of the banks!
